Umpqua Valley of Oregon
ANINDOR VINEYARD
Our first site from Oregon, this vineyard is located in the Umpqua Valley appellation near the town of Elkton in southern Oregon. The Umpqua valley is one of the oldest vineyard areas in Oregon, planted first in the 1880s. Warmer and drier than the Willamette Valley, its diversity of topography and temperature allow for the production of a wide variety of grapes including both Burgundian and Bordeaux varietals. This wine differs dramatically from its California counterparts especially in its more austere expression of fruit, more abundant "Burgundian" aromas, and more predominant acidity.
BRADLEY VINEYARD
Owned by John Bradley, this site is planted to both classic and Dijon clones of Pinot Noir. Our first vintage of Pommard clone Pinot Noir was acquired in 2006. Characteristic of this part of Oregon, the wines made from this site are comparatively "big" when tasted alongside California wines. Highlighted by earth, forest floor, and dark fruit organoleptics, the Umpqua Valley wines tend to be less open, tighter, and longer-lived than many of their California counterparts.
